Daylighting is also known as potholing. Daylighting a pipe is a term used to describe the process by which our contractors safely and securely expose underground utility lines and pipes. This gives them an in-depth look at the subsurface infrastructure.
How we use daylighting
Using hydro excavation, our team is able to quickly and safely remove the debris while locating and exposing all pipes and underground utilities. This method loosens the soil so that it can be easily removed. It then flows through the vacuum hose and into the debris tank for disposal at a waste site.
Why should you consider daylighting as a service
Before daylighting was used as an excavation method, utility lines and pipes were exposed by manual digging; a process which is not only time consuming, it also places the worker at risk and is usually more costly.
As an added benefit, daylighting doesn’t damage any existing utilities like heavy machinery would. The hydro excavation process is designed to maneuver around the existing subsurface utilities, while giving a clear view of what's there. The hydro excavator works in all types of soils and conditions such as clay, rocks and frozen surfaces.
At Wind River Environmental we are here for all your potholing/daylighting needs and if you call us today, one of our contractors would be happy to assist you.
